1,000 and Counting

The local high school girls basketball team had a great week last week. They played and won the state tournament for 3A. This is the 5th time in the past 6 years they have come away with a state championship. BUT - Coach Joe Lombard, our girls basketball coach, had his 1,000th win at the same time. Imagine that - his girls' team wins the state championship and it is his 1,000th win! He is a great coach and teacher, but he is probably one of the nicest men you will ever meet. His first response to the question - "How does it feel to have 1,000 wins?" was "All the glory and honor goes to God!". He is very humble, always including his assistant coaches and the players when asked about this feat!

He is one of those teachers that does it - not for the paycheck - but because he felt called to do so. Our district is better because of him and teachers like him - they view their profession as a calling - not just a job!

It was a great weekend for the girls, the coaches and all of their families! Congratulations!!!
