New Month - New Year

For a school district, the beginning of the school year is always a busy time. However - when the beginning of the school year and the end of the fiscal year hit in the same week - it's chaos - albeit controlled chaos!

This past week for all public school districts in the state of Texas marked the beginning of school as the legislature mandated a start date no earlier than August 27. The idea was to save energy costs for the districts by allowing them to start when the weather is changing (at least in some parts of the state!) and thus using less energy to cool schools. I think that was part of the reason anyway.

For a business office of a school district - that also means all invoices to be paid out of this year's funds had to be done by Friday, inventory at warehouse counted, entered, and verified on Friday, and insurance enrollment completed and turned into payroll (hopefully) by Friday. All of that to say - I've missed several days of posting due to late days at work this past week. In addition - I have missed a lot of posts that I normally read. I hopefully can get caught back up tomorrow.

Work on our kitchen remodel is supposed to start this next week. That is exciting but also just a little daunting. We have everything the contractor needs chosen and ordered. What's left is paint for the walls after they finish with everything else, light fixtures, and window coverings. The tastes of my spouse and I are very different. It is very difficult to bring the two together. Hopefully - we will have something we can both live with for a long time - as we will not be doing this again anytime soon. I may try to post some before and after pictures for those interested.

I would love to see your kitchen before and after pictures. And I hope your next work week is much calmer after the last busy one. I think your school system had the right idea about not starting so early. Ours started this year right while we were having all those over 100 temperatures and I was thinking how crazy that was. It would have been much more cost efficient to wait a couple of weeks.

I would love to see some pics !Its like my husband and me...though I have absolutely no interest in decorating but have an Indian taste for decorating so to find a common ground we rope in a designer friend who combines the Indian aspect and my husbands tastes
