Ramblings

I am having a really hard time coming up with something to post about today. Work was really hectic and I was extremely late getting home. With teachers coming back - you would think it would be busier, but that is really not the case. The biggest difference - I had 3 calls regarding injuries at work! I probably haven't had 3 calls all summer long - and we have maintenance and custodial staff that work all summer long! In addition - there are a lot more interruptions throughout the day that make it really tough to get things finished until everyone has gone home. In the quiet - you can get a lot more accomplished.

Haven't had much of a chance to practice with those new golf clubs yet. Hopefully - we can get some time to play before the weather gets bad. I have practiced hitting on our place (we have 4 acres and no houses really close) and sometimes hit the ball and sometimes miss the ball! Consistency is not a good description yet! Persistence would be if I could just get out there before dark. It's hard to see those balls in the grass when it gets dark.

In addition to work, family, church, I would like to continue taking classes. I'm not sure how to work that in - or what to take. I enjoyed my accounting classes but if I'm not going to sit for a CPA exam, I'm not sure how much value there is in that course of action. I have to decide quickly as classes for the university here start next week.

I have just started playing golf, too! It can be addicting very quickly. I can relate to your schedule. A few years ago I was in grad school, working full time and had 3 bigger kids at home and my husband led the music at church. Finally graduated, kids have flown the coop - sort of, now it's God, family and work. Keep posting about life. I'm a new reader and think we probably have a lot in common. Blessings!

Frasypoo & Kathy - I don't manage very well. Just ask my family. There are times that are not as hectic and I really appreciate those times.

Angel - Thanks for the encouragement. That was a needed boost to my day today.

Allison - Welcome! I only have 1 child left at home right now and a spouse that travels quite a bit. I think my dilemma is that I need to be available for my family, but I have a desire to do something just for myself as well. I'm having a hard time reconciling those two. Then, of course, there is the job I'm being paid to do. Thank you for stopping by!

It's very important, Strawb, to take some time for yourself, whatever that might entail.

There's a very cool book for artists called "The Artist's Way" by Julia Cameron. It helps with those who are 'blocked'... she talks about re-filling 'the well' that gets depleted after working on projects, by doing fun things for ourselves. It can just mean going for a walk in a park, or pampering ourselves in some small way. I think it can be applied to any career.

So don't forget to take the time to smell the roses.

Thanks, Incognito! Welcome back! I tend to have a harder time taking time for me than giving to someone else. I guess my pampering is having my nails done once or twice a month.
