The Dash

You may have heard the talk on the dash. You know what I'm talking about - the dash on the tombstone between the date of birth and the date of death. That dash is there to represent everything in your life between your birth and your death. What would your dash mean to your family and friends?

Ruth Graham passed from this earth to her heavenly home today. Hers was a life well lived! Those of her family still on earth will have a huge hole to fill! She will be missed by her husband of many years, Dr. Billy Graham, her children, grandchildren and a host of family and friends! Her life is represented by that dash as well. Everything she did, said, believed, accomplished, failed, or didn't do is included in that one little line on her tombstone. I believe she would want that dash to represent Christ to every person whose life she touched. She did that in a mighty way. She was a wonderful example of a Christian wife, supporting her husband in his ministry, yet also having her own areas of ministry as well!

My life will one day be represented by that dash as well. What will family and friends say that dash means? I hope they can say that showing Christ was the most important thing in my life, followed by my marriage, my children, grandchildren, family, and friends. Those relationships can be taken with you when you leave this earth and walk into heaven. Maybe not immediately, but certainly at some point in the future, as each of us will die one day.

What will your dash represent?

Billy Graham is one of the few evangelists untouched by scandal and I know 98% of that success was having a wonderful wife.
I hope my dash represents me as being a good Christian woman and a great wife.I know I was created for this purpose and when I die hopefully it would be a race well run.
