Casting Cares

This is what I saw when I got home from choir practice last night. Poor puppy! I told our quarterback's mother he could be our team mascot as his cast is "Canyon Eagle Purple!" He is making out okay with the cast but his gait is pretty funny. Sometimes he drags the cast and other times he hops, moving both back legs at the same time! He's plenty fast though, even dragging the cast around.

In the second picture you can see a new use for duct tape - as tape around a cast. The vet told us to keep him from chewing on his cast, but that is almost hopeless. He had chewed away a good part of the outer covering by this morning, so I grabbed the roll of duct tape and went to work trying to keep the splint in place.

You can see that he is not in too much pain. He runs as much as he can, although we do try to slow him down. It is pretty funny to watch!

I think sometimes we all carry around loads like Duke's cast but there is a difference. Our load is by our own choice. Right now Duke doesn't have a choice but to drag his cast around with him. We have a choice - we have a Savior who is ready, willing, and more than able to take that load from us! We just aren't willing to let Him! That makes us tired, frustrated, and slower than normal because of the extra load we're bearing. As soon as Duke gets that cast off, we may not catch him for several hours. That's the way we should be all the time. The Bible tells us that with Jesus - His yoke for us is easy and His burden is light. The yoke is easy because Jesus is the one doing most of the pulling. His burden is light because Jesus is the doing most of the carrying! He wants to do that for each of us. Why don't we let Him do just that?!
