The saga of our kitchen makeover (do-over, whatever!) continues. The original contractor we had contacted met with us, took our ideas, even had the plastic fabricator company come measure counter tops, then apparently VANISHED for a time. I could not get him to return my phone calls, leaving multiple messages for him about what the next step needed to be. Finally I contacted other companies in the area. 2 were able to come out last week and visit with me, take measurements, and pictures. One of them asked about countertops, which is when I mentioned the company that had been out measure them before. He contacted them about the measurements, but had to find out who the original contractor was as the information was stored under his name. I don't know if the original contractor just decided to call or if the plastic company notified him that someone else was asking about the measurements - but lo and behold - he called and left a message today!
The one thing that was truly annoying is that all he needed to do was let me know it might be longer before he could get to our job or he was not going to be able to work it in at all. Oh well - I guess we'll see where we go from here.
By the way - the crape myrtle bushes are blooming and are absolutely beautiful!

How to have a big headache: do a renovation and hire others to do the job. Never on time, never on budget, never hassle-free.
Hey Stawberry!..dont ya hate home renovations!! ugh!..lol
Oh!!! my absolute hated stuff to do:home renovations...
Last year the crepe myrtles bloomed at the end of summer(september)Maybe it goes according to the region.I love the dark pink ones. Our city has them planted on main street, its in a row and when they bloom they just take your breat away!
Thanks for the encouraging words :)! Actually - we could just get by with replacing a cooktop but if we're going to be here for a while, we would like some things to be different. The hardest part is two fold - 1) to decide colors, style, etc.; 2) to find someone to do the major parts that we can't or don't have time to tackle!
I don't know why it's so hard to get good help. It's well nigh impossible here. renovation hell... not fun.
People are often afraid of potential confrontation so would rather just ignore you.
Good luck with all that Strawb!
